Although it is a small village in hilly terrain, the road is not really winding or with a massive number of bends. Sometimes, when you go visitng the most beautiful villages in Italy (Borghi più belli d’Italia), the roads are quite narrow and impassable, but the road to Offida is straightforward.

Holiday in Offida
This beautiful village is in the southern part of the Marche in the Ascoli Piceno province. When driving on the A55 motorway, whether from the north or the south, and with the Adriatic Sea at your side, take the SP92 which takes you all the way to Offida.

Offida is on the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and this was the reason for my trip to Offida. After parking the car, I was both hungry and thirsty for coffee, and therefore I went into a café 20 meters from my parked car.
Even in a place like this, where most guests, in the beginning of February, are locals, both the service, the food and the coffee were completely world class.
At the entrance to the historic center, you pass the Monumento alle merlettaie, which depicts a mother and daughter sitting and making lace. It is a tradition that mothers teach their daughter this craft, and it has been for more than five centuries. There is a museum for this in the Palazzo de Castellotti
Chiesa di Santa Maria della Rocca is a church that has stood here since 1330. The church is built in Romanesque-Gothic style and was erected by Maestro Albertino. You will find it in the western part of the village.
The primary reason for my visit to the village was the unusual but beautiful triangular square, Piazza del Popolo, in the center. You can’t avoid seeing Piazza del Popolo, and here you will find the Palazzo Comunale, which was built between the 13th and 14th centuries.
On the facade you see 7 archways and above 14 smaller archways that were elegantly built in the 15th century. Inside you will find the art gallery by Pietro Alemanno and Simone de Magistris.
You can also go to the theatre, Teatro Serpente Aureo, which I can only recommend you visit.
Tranquility helps providing a lovely atmosphere. You get that in Offida.
