The two nearest airports are in Genoa and Pisa. There is approximately one hour’s drive from both airports to Riomaggiore and the Cinque Terre Park.

The first evidence of the city dates to 1239. The inhabitants of the Carpena district, located in the mountains between Cinque Terre and La Spezia, decided to give loyalty to the Genoese people.
In 1251, the inhabitants of the small villages of Mezzacosta decided to unite with the people of Carpena in this area.
Thus, Riomaggiore was built up and created.
