Sardinia in 20 seconds
The white sand beaches are as timeless as the rest of Sardinia, where time has almost stood still, or at least moved very slowly for a long time. Fortunately for us! Because it provides the island with a charm and tranquility that is absolutely indescribable, and where you will find ample opportunity to completely disconnect from the rush of everyday life.
Sardinia is characterized by its dramatic and rolling highlands, as well as a coastline that offers enchanting and transparent seas, isolated coves, long sandy beaches and caves.

Holiday in Sardinia
Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and a top-tier destination for tourists worldwide. And it is easy to understand why when you see what Sardinia has to offer.
Dive into the crystal clear waters, travel back in time to the amazing monuments of a mysterious past, or join a tour to discover the fantastic local cuisine with exciting flavors.
In Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari, you’ll be led into a web of the city’s history, as there are several world-renowned museums there, including the Cittadella dei Musei and the Museo Nazionale Archeologico.
The Gennargentu Mountains, peaks at its highest 1,834 meters above sea level, and shelter the area with its rural mountain tops that block the wind.
The mountains drop dramatically towards the high waves of the Costa Smeralda in the northeast part of the island. This is an exclusively coastal area.
Further south, at Golfo di Orosei, it seems as if no man has ever lived in this area that is completely unspoilt.
In Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari, you’ll be led into a web of the city’s history, as there are several world-renowned museums there, including the Cittadella dei Musei and the Museo Nazionale Archeologico.
Sassari, Oristano, Alghero and Olbia are all towns that are promoted as wonderful destinations in the marketing efforts from Sardinia’s tourist offices, and we agree fully.
Olbia is a city in rapid development, made wealthy by the tourism brought on by the resort of Costa Smeralda.
Olbia stands in stark contrast to the somber town of Nuoro, which with its provinces that lie in the shadow of the Gennargentu mountains has little in common with Sardinia’s other towns.
On Sardinia’s northwestern coast we find the Catalan inspired town of Alghero.
Alghero airport is 12 kilometers from the city center. The airport has really made its way onto the international map in recent years after low-cost airlines brought it much more traffic.
If you’re already in Sardinia, perhaps on holiday near Cagliari, the drive to Alghero takes just under 3 hours.
Alghero’s nickname is Barceloneta (Little Barcelona), and for good reason.
Alghero was populated by settlers from Catalonia, which is something you can still feel in the city as well as via the locals that still speak Catalan.
The town has a Spanish feel and even has some of the original Catalan street names in use to this day.
Something you will no doubt discover on your holiday in Alghero, is that the city has preserved its walls which were used as a defensive fortification.
You will enjoy the fabulous stroll on the ramparts where the sea almost greets you. The old town, Torri e bastoni di Alghero, is lined with towers that overlook the bay, but not all the towers are open for visitors.
These ancient walls are ideal for relaxing with the accompanying stunning views, and the old town, partially surrounded by the medieval walls and labyrinthine alleyways, could hardly be more beautiful or enchanting.
Here you find cobbled streets lined with tall houses and the locals’ laundry fluttering everywhere. You will find everything from the bustling harbor, to areas offering relaxation and it’s also a place where the atmosphere and hospitality turn the experience into something truly special. Especially when you are dining on the local Sardinian cuisine.
The best beach in the area is Spiaggia di Maria Pia, and once you’re by the sea there’s a very popular boat trip out to Grotta di Nettuno.
Bosa is a small picturesque town located on the northwestern coast of Sardinia. The River Temo which runs next to the city helps make the place even more beautiful.
Bosa is located to the south of Alghero. The trip takes just more than one hour’s drive from Alghero’s international airport, with the SS49 highway connecting Bosa and Alghero.
The drive takes a little over two hours from the airport of Cagliari
The warm climate that surrounds Bosa and the area is inviting for everyone, and especially those of us that come from Scandinavia. In fact, more and more Scandinavians are visiting the area each year, and that’s only understandable!
Let’s start with Castello di Serravalle, also known as Castello Malaspina.
It’s a long way to the top. The stairs are steep, but the walk is worth it when you see the beautiful sight that awaits you. You’ll get an absolutely stunning view of the city once you make it. Also be sure to stop by the Chiesa di Nostra Signora, where you can experience the beautiful frescoes.
The town isn’t very big but has tremendous levels of charm, and among other things you will find the historic center of Sa Costa, which feels like it is trying to climb up the hill to Serravalle in a most lovely way. In Sa Costa you walk through small alleys and winding streets, and here time appears to have stood still since the Middle Ages, which is very charming.
You can also take a stroll down the promenade, where you no doubt will feel the silence and coziness that surrounds you. We suggest you enjoy a cool drink, a cappuccino, or eat a local Sardinian dish with the locals. It doesn’t get much more Italian than that.
