The nature in Liguria is simply fantastic! It is beautifully presented in Cinque Terre, which is simply such a picture-perfect area, that you could easily visit several times in your life and never get tired of it.
Besides Cinque Terre, Liguria offers many other stunning natural areas. Several nature parks are scattered along the long and narrow coastline. These include Portofino, and of course the region’s capital, Genoa.
Centrally located in the region, the port city of Genoa has plenty of history, beautiful buildings and quaint streets to offer, and is truly more beautiful than the typical port cities we see.

Portovenere may not be part of the five small and charming towns of Cinque Terre, but it’s just as beautiful all the same. There are many villages in Liguria, but this is probably one of the most romantic of them all. The pastel coloured houses, that we know from many places in Liguria, are packed beautifully into the town’s small and charming streets.
Portovenere is on the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, which you can see in “Piu borghi d’Italia”. In addition Portovenere is also part of Cinque Terre, and is therefore also accepted onto the UNESCO world heritage list.
The city emanates a cozy Ligurian lifestyle, and the architecture of the city is just as pleasant and gorgeous as the blue mediterranean ocean, which is the closest neighbor to the city. The church of San Lorenzo is located in the upper part of the city. On a cliff outcropping that almost reaches out into the sea you will find the black and white church of San Pietro, where you will have an amazing view out towards Cinque Terre.
Of course you must not miss out on Castello di Porto Venere, which is an old stronghold from the 11th century, and one of the most impressive military buildings in all of Liguria.

Cinque Terre is the name of the beautiful coast that stretches from alongside the Italian Riviera di Levante. The coast is littered with cliffs that strike a stark contrast to the waves of the mediterranean that come crashing into them.
Portofino is a wonderful small town in Liguria, with its cozy little fishing village that offers restaurants and cafés along the seafront. Portofino is located east of Genoa, just over 35 kilometers from the region’s capital.
The city is every bit as beautiful as the pictures suggest. And helped on by the location itself, we are actually talking about it being as beautiful, as when we look at a painting. You may have also read about Portofino and how expensive the town is because of its rich tourists who are wealthier than ordinary people like the rest of us.
Riomaggiore is one of the five small villages of the adorable Cinque Terre Park with the yellow and red houses.
The town is the first you come to when you come from La Spezia. It is connected, via a magnificent trail system, to one of the other five villages, Manarola.
Vernazza is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy (Borghi più belli d’Italia) and is seen as the most atmospheric and magical town of the Cinque Terre.
